You can't escape from a prison until you recognize you are in one. People who have chosen to live within the limits of their old beliefs continue to have the same experiences. It takes effort and commitment to break old patterns We tend to think that the sky is the limit.
But if you really look at limitations, the greatest one is the mind. This takes me back to my teenage years, riding around the block with my friends bumping loudly to Master P's "I'm a No Limit Soldier; I thought I told you!" Not really grasping the concept of, not the song in it's entirety, just the repetitive hook. I was too busy clowning rather than observing. Think about the positivity, the confidence, and the self empowering message of this hook, (for today let's call it our mantra).
We let these things become the very breath we breathe, the misguided walk that we walk, the drama-filled talk that we talk; we let it define us. We start believing that we don't deserve better, so in turn we don't do better. It's so deep and detrimental to our thought process, that subconsciously we don't even think about it. We just exist living paycheck to paycheck, we just dwell in attracting mates that pull us down rather than build us up. We then become numb to our own intuition, creative intelligence and most importantly our purpose. We lose our value in victimhood. Our strength deteriorates. We begin to believe that we are incapable of creating the life that we truly want, desire and absolutely deserve! We exsist; not fully feeling ALIVE! ! We walk around thinking we are just a body and we forget our SPIRIT! We place our ability to change on an outside source, In turn, everything have and need is already within us!

We both were trained by Ifátóóké Olósundé Àjàlá of the Yoni Steam Institute as Yoni Steam Practitioners and trained in Womb Yoga by Sanovia Muhammad. Cathyann has a Master’s Degree in Occupational Therapy and certificates in: Integrative Nutrition , Raw Food Chef Professional Herbalism, Practical Nursing, Colon Hydrotherapy, CranioSacral Therapy, Yoni (Vaginal) Steaming. Please enjoy! Sunshyne: How long have you been a practicing herbalist? Cathyann: Since 2016 Sunshyne: What sparked your interest in herbalism? Cathyann: I took a training with Dr. Afrika in 2007 and heard how passionate he was about herbs but because he said they took long to work in the body I stayed away. At the time I was using essential oils and colonics among others things that gave me quick results. However, fast forward to 2011 when my midwife recommended herbs for me to drink as infusions during my pregnancy and for is after I gave birth. Then in 2013 when I had my first miscarriage and feeling the need to cleanse and reset my body naturally I researched herbs I could drink and I also looked into Yoni Steaming. I subsequently scheduled a session and also attended a virtual birth summit where they spoke highly of using herbs and how effective they were and I was hooked after that. I became a Yoni Steam Practitioner with the Yoni Steam Institute in 2013 where I learned more about herbs and in 2014 I took a female herb intensive training with Aremisa of Indigenous Remedies. Wanting to learn more, I signed up for the professional training with Herb Culture University so I could improve my knowledge based and offer this service to my clients. Sunshyne: Which culture of herbs do you work with mostly? Cathyann: Tropical/ Caribbean Sunshyne: Why did you choose this field of herbology? Cathyann: To help women like myself to care for their bodies naturally and prepare for pregnancy especially after a miscarriage. Sunshyne: Who are some of your mentors and teachers? Cathyann: Dr. Akua Gray, Dr. Llaila Afrika, Sherrice Sledge-Thomas, Aremisa Hailey, Queen Afua, Joshua Rosenthal Sunshyne: What training did you go through to gain herbalist status? Cathyann: I took the Professional Herbalist training offered by Herb Culture University Sunshyne: What herbs do you incorporate in your everyday routine?or Your go-to herbs? Cathyann: Nettle, red clover, red raspberry, burdock root, dandelion root, yellow dock, sarsaparilla, ginger root, fennel seeds, cinnamon, bay leaf, soursop leaf, seamoss, vitex Sunshyne: What are some of your greatest accomplishments as a cultural herbalist? Cathyann: Just knowing that they are a source of food that nourish my body I have used the herbs to reset my womb to be able to carry new life after 3 miscarriages. The blend I steamed with and drank was vitex, red clover and burdock. Sunshyne: What is the most challenging part, in your perspective, of being an herbalist? Cathyann: When the clients invest, see the results them stop taking the herbs and wonder why symptoms return. I have to keep reminding them that is like how they eat certain food they like everyday. Now these nourishing to herbs are a part of their routine Sunshyne: When you are creating herbal product, What is your favorite method of application and why? Love infusions because of how quick they assimilate into the bloodstream.. Sunshyne: Tell me a little bit about your business, services , product and/or courses. Cathyann: My business is called Fertile Womb Lifestyle. I offer a signature coaching program called Pregnancy Empowerment After Miscarriage which can be done as a self paced program, 1:1 coaching or as group coaching. I also offer an herb blend called MoonTyme Komfort which contains Nettle Leaf, Cinnamon Bark and Red Raspberry Leaf. Sunshyne: Do you have any book recommendations? Cathyann: Down There and Wise Woman Herbal For The Childbearing Year by Susun Weed are two of my favorites Sunshyne: What advice do you have for an aspiring herbalist? Cathyann: Be patient and remind the client that you are a mentor and a guide who is helping them to be their own healer. They have to do the work. Thank you for reading The Harambee House of Wellness Blog <3 In the Summer of 2004, while carrying my first daughter- 2nd child. I received a knock at my door. I glanced through the peephole to find on the other side, my neighbor. We noticed one another around, but had never interacted besides a greeting here or there. She too was expecting her first daughter-1st child. I opened the door and she says to me in the most honest vibration I have ever encountered, "I just need someone to talk to." I noticed immediately how strong and powerful she was in that moment. Without hesitation, I let her in. We became each others safe haven, confidants, resource, we became sisters. Little did we know the behind the scene forces that orchestrated this meeting. I gave birth in September to Dasha that year and she, to Kyrah in April of the following year. 7 months and 7 days apart. So here we were new mothers of baby girls. We continued to support one another in any way we could as our babies grew. We began noticing the connection between the girls. They had a genuine love for one another. They became inseparable, best friends, each others safe haven, confidants, resource, they became...... sisters! As the girls got older, their schedules began to become filled with recitals, classes , family trips, practices and many things that come with growth. We, the mommies, still managed to keep the girls in touch. Now we are here in 2016, We just celebrated my daughters 12th birthday this passed September 2nd. I asked her, what she wanted for her birthday. She sat still and contemplated. I thought maybe she'd ask for a bike, a massage session, some clothes, a nice dinner party, but instead she simply stated, "All I want is to see Kyrah." Nothing more, nothing less, she wanted her sister. It was such a compelling moment, because there are many moments where I just want my sisters. It's then I began feeling so proud that she gets it. Sisterhood. I was not raised to appreciate and nourish my sisters. Instead my environment taught me to talk and snicker behind her back, judge her, belittle her, spread her business and worst of all I am not her and she is not me. So this moment brings me great joy in recognizing my sisterhood.....As they grow from the womb, to little ones, to young ladies, to grown women, I honor them as my sisters. They have the privilege to take this sisterhood into their adult life and share their story of how they have been best friends since the womb. They will get to share their testimony with their children and keep this story close to their hearts. So of course we made this reunion, this request happen. Sisterhood is a powerful component that we need so very badly! I am in complete awe of how beautiful these young ladies have become. Both smart, creative, funny, and loving. I am sure we all have been in a place where we've been asked, what do you want? "All I want is to see [friends name here]." <3 9 ways to honor your sister-friend:
The trees are changing, the temperature is dropping, a time of reflection is upon us. Whether we want change or not, it's on the way. The more we deny it, the more it approaches us with a dynamic force. What can we learn from the colorful beauty of Autumn? Just as the leaves, we should follow suit and let things go that don't serve us. We must slow down and go inward and adjust accordingly by removing what does not fulfill our greatest truths and desires. Not only are we entering the season of Fall, we are also in a season of change within the Universe. Intuitively we feel like there is more, something has to be different than what's before us. Somethings gotta give. Here are some ways to administer change in your life.
-sunshynethadevine Harambee House of Wellness 678-824-5025 [email protected] "Life begins at the end of your comfort zone." "The more tranquil a man becomes, the greater is his success, his influence, his power for good. Calmness of mind is one of the beautiful jewels of wisdom." We often times allow things to affect us that are insignificant to our growth. In most cases, it's not even our emotion or issue. We easily pick up on others feelings or emotions. They have an attitude, you get an attitude, They don't want to be bothered, you don't want to be bothered. A vicious cycle begins! We have to tap into the super power of calm to manifest and attract good things our way. Here are 7 ways you can "ACTIVATE CALM!"
1. Take deep breaths- Breathe in through your nose and out through your mouth. As you breathe in focus on the emotion that you feel. As you breathe out, let that emotion go. Scan your body and notice any tense areas. While breathing focus on releasing that tension. 2. Go for a walk- Nature is healing and calming. Tap into the energy of the earth to help soothe any anxiety or frustration. Hug a tree, put your feet in the soil, listen to water flow, feel the wind move around you. Let nature guide you. 3. Meditate- Turn on some relaxing music and let it take you away. 4. Take a hot bath- Add Epsom Salt, Sea salt, baking soda, essential oils and soft music and treat yourself to a spa of your own. 5. Play with your stones- Healing stones have a wonderful way of soothing the spirit. Amethyst, Celestite, Howlite, Hematite, Ocean Jasper, and Lepidolite are great stones for grounding and calmness. 6. Dance- Turn on your favorite tunes and move! Get your energy moving, blood flowing and release! 7. Come see us- We offer many services to bring calm into your life. Reiki is excellent for calming the body, mind and spirit. We are staffed with Reiki Practitioners to help you. Speak with one of our life coaches, book a yoga class with us, treat yourself to a massage with our massage therapist . We are here to serve our community and we invite you to utilize our services.
